PWA icon and splash screen generator
Upload one logo and download every icon your web app needs: standard and maskable icons, the apple-touch-icon, favicon, a push notification badge and iPhone launch screens, with the tags to paste.
From logo to installed app
- Choose a square logo, ideally an SVG or a PNG of 512×512 or more with a transparent background.
- Pick a background color and check the maskable preview: the logo should sit inside the dashed safe zone circle.
- Download the ZIP and upload its folders to the root of your site, so the icons load from
/icons/and the launch screens from/splash/. - Paste the HTML tags into your
<head>, and the icons into your manifest, or make a new one with the manifest generator. - Test the result with the PWA checker.
Questions
What icon sizes does a PWA need?
A 192×192 and a 512×512 PNG in the manifest for install on Android and desktop, maskable versions so Android can shape them, a 180×180 apple-touch-icon for iPhone and iPad, and a favicon. Google Play also asks for a 512×512 icon.
What is a maskable icon?
An icon with a full-bleed background and the logo inside a safe zone, a centred circle 80% as wide as the icon. Android crops icons into circles, squircles or rounded squares, and only the safe zone is always visible. Without one, Android shrinks your icon onto a white circle.
Why does my iPhone icon have a black background?
iOS doesn't support transparent Home Screen icons and fills transparency with black. This tool always gives the apple-touch-icon your background color.
What are iOS launch screens (splash screens)?
The image an iPhone or iPad shows while a Home Screen web app opens. iOS ignores the manifest for this, so each screen size needs its own image and an apple-touch-startup-image tag. Without them, users see a white screen.
What is the notification badge?
A small white silhouette Android shows in the status bar for push notifications. Set it as badge when you show a notification. It needs a logo with a transparent background.
Is my logo uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is drawn in your browser with the canvas API and zipped there. Your image never leaves your device.
